Staff Handbook

Employing staff and managing volunteer workers is a responsible task.

Employment and Health and Safety law and directives require employers, particularly those who employ five or more staff, to have clear written policies on a number of employment and health and safety matters.

Whilst there are fewer requirements for volunteers, credit unions have a duty of care to their volunteers and can include them in the staff handbook.

ACE has produced a model staff handbook containing a section on employment and health and safety at work.  These policies and procedures need to be adapted by credit unions to suit their needs and adopted by the board/committee.
