ACE Credit Union Services is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee and a Co-operative Society, registered with the FCA https://www.fca.org.uk/ (Reg Number 5037)
Our History: A Legacy of Leadership and Service to our Community
ACE Credit Union Services was founded in the wake of the National Federation of Credit Unions' dissolution in 2000, by visionary leader Barbara Hann. Barbara, who was awarded a CBE for her significant contributions to financial services for the underprivileged, laid the foundation for a community-focused credit union trade body. She was instrumental in establishing credit unions in Newcastle and initiated several community projects. As ACE's first CEO, Barbara's legacy is one of relentless advocacy for financial inclusion and the empowerment of communities across the North-East of England. Her work set the stage for ACE's ongoing mission to support and develop credit unions, ensuring they remain vital resources for financial empowerment within their communities.
Our work is guided by the same values that inspired our founder — a commitment to fairness, community, and co-operation. Everything we do is centred on helping credit unions serve their members with confidence, compassion, and integrity.
Our core purpose is to:
Include → Empower → Advocate → Support → Sustain
